Learn about the SDGs & Take Action

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — also known as the Global Goals — are a shared plan to build a fairer, safer, healthier, and more sustainable world by 2030. But the SDGs aren’t just policy. They’re lived — in schools, communities, workplaces, farms, councils, charities, and youth groups — through practical actions that improve real lives.

This page on SDG.VISION helps you learn about the SDGs and discover real-world examples of people taking action. You’ll find short films and stories that make the Goals easier to understand — and easier to act on.

If you’re doing something that supports any SDG, we’d love to feature your story too.

What you’ll find on this page

  • Clear, simple ways to understand the 17 SDGs

  • Short films showing real actions people are taking right now

  • Youth-led projects and community initiatives you can copy

  • Practical ideas for schools, clubs, organisations, and local leaders

  • Stories that connect local work to global impact

Take Action: Start small, start local, start now

You don’t need permission to make a difference. Many of the strongest SDG actions begin with simple steps:

  • Notice a problem in your school/community

  • Gather a few people who care

  • Try one practical improvement

  • Film the change and share what you learned

Your story can help someone else act faster.

Share your SDG film on SDG.VISION

We welcome films and stories linked to any of the 17 SDGs — especially practical, positive actions that others can replicate.

What you can submit

  • Youth Action films:

    • Under 1 minute (ideal for social media)

    • Up to 3 minutes (a fuller story)

  • Longer films are welcome too — we’ll feature them on SDG.VISION and link them to the relevant SDG pages and themes.

Examples of SDG actions to film

  • A school project improving inclusion, wellbeing, or climate action

  • A community group tackling food insecurity or loneliness

  • A local nature restoration, clean-up, or water protection initiative

  • A social enterprise creating decent work or fair access

  • A partnership between groups that achieved real outcomes

How to send your film

  1. Upload your film via WeTransfer

  2. Send it to: Share@SDG.VISION

  3. Include (if you can): film title, your name/organisation, location, which SDG(s) it supports, and a 1–2 sentence summary of the action and impact.

We may also invite you to a podcast conversation with Pierre (SDG.VISION Director) to explore your story in more depth and help others learn from your experience.

Why share your SDG story?

Because stories teach faster than theory. A short film can:

  • make the SDGs feel real and relevant

  • inspire others with practical steps they can copy

  • attract partners, volunteers, supporters, and resources

  • help young people feel seen, valued, and empowered

  • build a positive library of solutions for a better future
