SDG 6 — Clean Water and Sanitation

Clean water and safe sanitation are foundations of health, dignity, education, and thriving communities. SDG 6 is about protecting rivers and groundwater, improving water quality, reducing pollution, ensuring reliable access to safe drinking water, and building sanitation and hygiene systems that work for everyone — including in schools, workplaces, and public spaces. This SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation page on SDG.VISION shares films and stories of practical action — led by young people, communities, engineers, farmers, organisations, and innovators — improving water and sanitation in real life.

If you’re taking action to protect water, improve sanitation, or reduce pollution, your story can inspire others.

Why share your clean water story?

Because water solutions are practical — and they spread when people can see them. A short film can:

  • help communities copy what works (and avoid what doesn’t)

  • strengthen local partnerships across councils, farmers, schools, and groups

  • attract volunteers, supporters, and expert input

  • raise awareness without blame — and focus on achievable fixes

  • celebrate rivers, coastlines, and communities protecting what matters
